BULLDOGS ANNOUNCE ELEMENTS OF ENHANCED FAN EXPERIENCE FOR 2014-15 SEASON

HAMILTON, ONT. – The Hamilton Bulldogs Hockey Club announced today several elements that will contribute to an enhanced in-game fan experience for the 2014-15 season.

“Today, we’re thrilled to unveil some of the work we’ve done over the off-season to create a more engaging and electrifying in-game atmosphere for our passionate fans,” said Bulldogs president Stephen Ostaszewicz. “These improvements to our game presentation represent some of the biggest changes in the history of the Hamilton Bulldogs franchise.”

Among the changes are two staffing additions to the Bulldogs front office, as Michael Carlesimo joins the club as Sr. Manager of Game Presentation and Ryan Harding comes on board as Digital Production Coordinator.

Carlesimo comes to Hamilton after spending the previous six seasons (2008 to 2014) with the Toronto Marlies. During his time with the Marlies, the club earned American Hockey League awards for Best Overall Fan Experience (2014) and Team of the Year (2013). With the ‘Dogs, he will oversee all elements of game presentation.

Harding brings to the team a strong combination of broadcasting and video production experience. Prior to joining the Bulldogs this September, Harding had previously worked with Rogers TV and NTV in Newfoundland and Labrador in broadcast journalism as well as with the Belleville Bulls in digital production. In his role with the Bulldogs, he will produce and operate all in-game video content.

Other elements to the upgraded in-game presentation this season will include:

New high-definition video cameras, operated by Mohawk College broadcasting students through a new internship program
Smoke’s Poutinerie on the concourse
Enhanced in-arena audio with new mixer system
Additional bathrooms on event level
Additional concessions on event level
New location for Fun Zone

These additions will complement other recent game presentation advancements from previous seasons, which included the installation of the new 360-degree LED ribbon board, renovations to the FirstOntario Centre concourse and new scoreboard video screens. Laura Barney will also return for her second season as in-stands host.

The Bulldogs open the 2014-15 regular season on Saturday, Oct. 11 when they will visit the Rochester Americans at Blue Cross Arena at the War Memorial at 7:05 p.m. The puck drops for Hamilton’s home-opening weekend on Friday, Oct. 17, when the ‘Dogs host the Toronto Marlies at FirstOntario Centre at 7:30 p.m.

Bulldogs Welcome Tangradi as Habs Trade Budaj, Holland

MONTREAL, QUE. – Montreal Canadiens and Hamilton Bulldogs general manager Marc Bergevin announced today the Canadiens have acquired forward Eric Tangradi from the Winning Jets in exchange for goaltender Peter Budaj and forward Patrick Holland. Tangradi will report to the Bulldogs.

Tangradi spent the 2013-14 season in the National Hockey League with the Jets. In 55 games with Winnipeg, the 25-year-old recorded six points (three goals, three assists) and 21 penalty minutes. A veteran of five professional seasons, the Philadelphia, Pa. native has played more than 300 NHL and American Hockey League regular season games combined. In 136 career NHL regular season games with the Jets and Pittsburgh Penguins, he has recorded 15 points (five goals, 10 assists) and 69 penalty minutes. In 178 career AHL regular season games with the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins, he has recorded 121 points (60 goals, 61 assists) and 214 penalty minutes. Tangradi was originally selected by the Anaheim Ducks in the second round (42nd overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Holland spent most of the past two seasons with the Bulldogs. In 2013-14, played five games with the Canadiens, recording no points or penalty minutes. In 126 career AHL regular season games with the Bulldogs, he recorded 45 points (16 goals, 29 assists) and 10 penalty minutes. Originally selected by the Calgary Flames in the seventh round (193rd overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Holland was acquired from the Flames on Jan. 12, 2012 with forward Rene Bourque and a second round selection in 2013 (Zachary Fucale) in return for Mike Cammalleri and a fifth-round pick in 2012 (Ryan Culkin).

MONTREAL, QUE. – Montreal Canadiens and Hamilton Bulldogs general manager Marc Bergevin announced today the Canadiens have assigned defenceman Darren Dietz and forward Christian Thomas to the Bulldogs. Both players will report to Hamilton and won’t join the Bulldogs for their last pre-season game on Sunday against the St. John’s IceCaps in St. John’s, N.L.

Dietz spent the 2013-14 season – his first as a pro – with the Bulldogs. In 34 games with Hamilton, the 21-year-old recorded five assists and 49 penalty minutes. The 6-1, 209-pound defenceman was selected by the Canadiens in the fifth round (138th overall) in the 2011 National Hockey League Entry Draft.

Thomas split the 2013-14 season between the Canadiens and Bulldogs. In two games with Montreal, the 22-year-old recorded no points or penalty minutes. In 55 games with Hamilton, the 5-9, 179-pound forward recorded 27 points (11 goals, 16 assists) and 22 penalty minutes. In three career NHL regular season games with the Canadiens and New York Rangers, he has recorded no points and no penalty minutes. In 133 career American Hockey League regular season games with the Bulldogs and Connecticut Whale, the Toronto, Ont. native has recorded 64 points (31 goals, 33 assists) and 37 penalty minutes.

Earlier on Saturday, the Canadiens also announced that forward Drayson Bowman had cleared NHL waivers and was assigned to the Bulldogs.

With today’s assignments, Hamilton’s training camp now sits at 35 players, including 20 forwards, 12 defencemen and three goaltenders.

Bulldogs Announce Radio, TV Broadcast Schedule

HAMILTON, ONT. – The Hamilton Bulldogs Hockey Club announced today its broadcast schedule for the 2014-15 season, which will feature all games carried live on AM900 CHML and AHL Live as well as all 13 Friday night regular season home games live in high definition on Cable 14.

“We’re excited to have AM900 CHML and Cable 14 on board again this season for our local radio and TV audiences,” said Bulldogs president Stephen Ostaszewicz. “We look forward to hearing CHML build on a strong year as our radio broadcast partner in 2013-14 and watching Cable 14 continue to present a fantastic television product.”

For all 13 Friday night regular season home games on Cable 14, Stephen Clark will return as play-by-play announcer, while Norm Miller also returns as colour commentator. Clark, a Waterdown resident, has been involved at Cable 14 since 2005. He has called Ontario University Athletics, Ontario Colleges Athletic Association, high school and international basketball and semi-pro soccer for the station. Miller has been involved with Cable 14’s Bulldogs broadcasts as colour commentator for more than 10 years. He worked in professional sports in communications for 15 years, starting his career with the Canadian Football League in 1988, and was with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats from 1993 to 1999. He also spent two seasons as colour commentator for the Ontario Hockey League’s Brampton Battalion on Rogers TV.

Play-by-play announcer Matt Holmes will have the call of all regular season and post-season contests on CHML, with colour commentary from veteran broadcaster Al Craig for home games. Rick Zamperin returns as host of the pre-game show, which features commentary and one-on-one interviews with Bulldogs’ players and staff, while Anthony Urciuoli joins the broadcast team as host of the post-game show, which features game recaps, player interviews and call-in segments. The first CHML broadcast of the season will be tomorrow night, Thursday, Oct. 2, when the ‘Dogs play their first pre-season game of 2014-15 against the St. John’s IceCaps in Grand Falls-Windsor, N.L. at 5:30 p.m. ET. All pre-season and regular season games can be heard live on AM900 CHML and 900chml.com, with the exception of the home opener on Friday, Oct. 17, which will be on 900chml.com only.

HAMILTON, ONTARIO – The Hamilton Bulldogs announced today that single-game tickets for 2014-2015 regular season games at FirstOntario Centre will go on sale Wednesday, September 17th at 11 a.m.

All ‘Dogs existing season ticket holders will have a access to a special pre-sale beginning TOMORROW, Thursday, September 11th at 11:00 a.m. Single-game tickets available during this pre-sale will be offered at a special season ticket holder discounted price. The pre-sale will conclude on September 16th at 5:00 p.m.

Single-game tickets purchased in advance of their game will be $20 in the “blue” section, $23 in the “red” section and $29 in the “gold” section. Thirty-seven of the Bulldogs’ 38 home games will be played at FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton, while the other will be played at Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, home of their National Hockey League parent club, the Montreal Canadiens. 29 of the home games will be played on weekend dates while the other eight fall on weekdays including a 1:00 p.m. Family Day game on Monday, February 16th and the club’s annual School Day Game at 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, November 4th.

The Bulldogs open their 19th American Hockey League season on Saturday, October 11th as they visit the Rochester Americans at Blue Cross Arena for 7:05 p.m. game. The ‘Dogs will return to Hamilton for their 2014-2015 home opener at FirstOntario Centre against their archrival the Toronto Marlies on Friday, October 17th at 7:30 p.m.

Hamilton Bulldogs 2014-15 Schedule Released

The 2014-2015 AHL schedule is now out. 

MILTON, ONT — The highly anticipated 76 game, 2014-2015 regular season American Hockey League schedule was released this morning, and we finally get to see who and where the Hamilton Bulldogs  will faceoff with in the 2014-’15 campaign.

The Bulldogs will open up the season on October 11th in Rochester against the Americans, and then their back-to-back home opener weekend will be on Friday, October 17th against the Toronto Marlies and then a tilt against the Rockford IceHogs on Saturday Oct. 18.

Schedule notes: 

  • The Bulldogs will meet the Toronto Marlies 12 times
  • The Bulldogs will have the opportunity to play two games in NHL arenas this season, including one in Montreal at the Bell Centre (their NHL affiliate Montreal Canadiens) against the Toronto Marlies. They will also play at First Niagara Centre, the home of the Buffalo Sabres,  against the Rochester Americans.Americans on October 29th.
  •  The Bulldogs longest home stand of the 2014-15 campaign goes from January 9th, 2015 until January 23rd, 2015, a total of seven games

Bulldogs To Honour Tiger-Cats Grey Cup Appearance

BULLDOGS TO HONOUR TI-CATS WITH PRE-GAME CEREMONY FRIDAY

HAMILTON, ONTARIO – Hamilton Bulldogs Hockey Club President Stephen Ostaszewicz announced today that the club will recognize the Hamilton Tiger-Cats as part of a pre-game ceremony ahead of tomorrow’s game against the Toronto Marlies at 7:30 p.m. at Copps Coliseum.

“The Hamilton Tiger-Cats captured the hearts and attention of the City of Hamilton this past season, capping things off with an appearance in the Grey Cup,” said Ostaszewicz. “They made great achievements as a football club this season and as professional sports allies in Hamilton, we’re pleased to have some of the Ti-Cats team in attendance as we recognize their efforts on Friday night.”

The ceremony planned before the game will include a puck drop and video tribute. Ti-Cats representatives in attendance will include President & Chief Operating Officer Glenn Gibson, running back C.J. Gable, receiver Dave Stala and offensive lineman Mike Filer. The football club’s Eastern Division Trophy will also be on hand.

Tomorrow night’s game will also be Boots & Hearts Night, presented by KX94.7 New Country FM. KX94.7 will be on site for the game and one trip to the Boots & Hearts Music Festival will be given away. The game will be broadcast live in high definition on Cable 14.
