Bulldogs Recall Drew Schiestel from Wheeling

BULLDOGS RECALL SCHIESTEL FROM NAILERS

MONTREAL, QUEBEC – Montreal Canadiens and Hamilton Bulldogs General Manager Marc Bergevin announced today the Bulldogs have recalled defenceman Drew Schiestel from the ECHL’s Wheeling Nailers.

Schiestel has split this season between Hamilton and Wheeling. In 21 games with Hamilton, the 6’2”, 193-pound defenceman has recorded six assists and 16 penalty minutes. In six games with Wheeling, the Hamilton, Ontario native has recorded two points (one goal, one assist) and no penalty minutes.

In 212 career AHL regular season games with the Portland Pirates, Rochester Americans, Texas Stars and Hamilton Bulldogs, Schiestel has recorded 61 points (nine goals, 52 assists) and 103 penalty minutes. He was originally selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the second round (59th overall) in the 2007 National Hockey League Entry Draft.

The Bulldogs’ next game is scheduled for Friday, January 24th, when they will host the Toronto Marlies (AHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs) at 7:30 p.m. at Copps Coliseum.
